Senior Legal Toolkit Presentation

, March 15, 6 to 7:45 p.m.

Community Legal Aid will provide free information to senior citizens about living wills, financial power of attorney, health care power of attorney and the probate process.  Admittance is free of charge and attendees will receive a complimentary information packet.  Please call (330) 983-2513 to register for the event.  For more details concerning Community Legal Aid Service, check out the organization's website.

Are you looking for a way to support your library? One way is to make a contribution to the Friends of the Library, a 501(c)(3) organization. Your donation to the Friends of the Library will help to support the wide variety of programs and activities at the library. 
The Friends assist in many ways, including by supplying speaker fees for special events, underwriting portions of the summer reading club programs, and by purchasing materials and supplies that the library would not otherwise be able to buy.

Help for Job Seekers

Looking for help during these tough economic times?  Check out these sites for all kinds of assistance: employment, education, housing, and more.  The State Library of Ohio has an excellent site for getting started.  Live help is available at this site Mondays-Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays.  Because job searching can be overwhelming, this site is a great place to start. Find Help in Tough Economic Times  connects the user to state links for children, job seeking, senior citizens and more.
 
The Job & Career Accelerator, a resource from the State Library of Ohio, provides personalized, step-by-step job search assistance for all levels of job seekers from exploring and matching suitable occupations from over 1000 detailed occupation profiles to finding available jobs in their area from a database of over 5 million up-to-date job postings. Registration for this service is free.
 
The Barberton Library also has links to various employment resources.  Job Resources  connects users to many sites for job seekers: like CareerBuilder.comJobWeb and USA Jobs.
 
Applying for a civil service job? Studying for your GED? Preparing for the ASVAB? Taking practice tests for the SAT? Check out The Learning Express Library  Practice tests of all types are available on this site.  Learn your score right after you take the test!

The Power of Cooperation
 
The Barberton Public Library is a member of a regional cooperative partnership called Clevnet. This is a resource sharing consortium of more than 30 library systems across nine counties in northern Ohio. By using your Barberton Library card, you have shared access to more than ten million items, exclusive online subscription resources, and a rich collection of downloadable media
 
As a Barberton Library card holder, you can:
  • Borrow materials from any of the 30+ participating library systems. 
  • Have items brought to you from any of the 30+ participating library systems. Participating libraries include: Cleveland Public Library, Hudson Library & Historical Library, Twinsburg Public Library, Peninsula Public Library, Medina County District Library, Wayne County Public Library, and Orrville Public Library.
  • Return any Clevnet materials to Barberton Library. 
  • Check your library account, place holds, and renew material online through the "My Account" feature.
  • Access subscription-only online resources covering topics such as car repair, genealogy, consumer information, and medical information.
  • Connect to the eMedia collection to download audiobooks, eBooks, music, and videos from your home or office computer.
