Goth Girl Rising by Barry Lyga

 

Dare I say that I like this book better than The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl?  Yes, I must say it.  Because I did.  Kyra returns to school six months after her father had her committed.  She is back and she is ready to destroy Fanboy for making the phone call that had her put away.  But there is something different about Fanboy.  He's more confident.  He has friends.  And his epic graphic novel, Schemata, is being serialized in the school literary magazine.  This will not stop Kyra though.  She will just have to work harder to punish Fanboy.
